The Set Sail Trust was set up by Cable & Wireless, Deutsche Bank and The Long Port Group in 2006 following their collaboration on supporting the Guernsey Maritime Mast. The mast was built to coincide with the 60th anniversary of Liberation Day and the SeaGuernsey festival and stands in pride of place on St Julian’s Roundabout. As a result of this initial collaboration, the joint sponsors decided to establish a fund to support initiatives to raise awareness of Guernsey’s long and varied nautical history.
At the same time the Trustees also hoped to make nautical experiences more accessible to a cross-section of our community. Particularly those who may not ordinarily be able to access such activities.
In 2009, TPA and IAM Advisory joined the Trust as Corporate sponsors.
In 2018 Butterfield Bank took over as Trustees from Deutsche Bank.
You may be a member of an already functioning organisation providing these services. The Set Sail Trust considers the co-funding and support of existing activities and new developments and ideas. Please contact us if you require assistance in your current nautical activity or have ideas for future ventures.
